MULTIPLE WAYS TO

Help Support
The SPCA

The Medicine Hat SPCA accepts support in other ways besides cash donations. We are in regular need of supplies to help keep our animals warm, fed, clean and happy. Another great idea is to organize a fundraiser with your community group, school, children or families with proceeds going to the SPCA. There are so many ways. Keep reading to learn more!

Project Ideas

Host A Fundraiser

Hold a Fundraiser to benefit the MHSPCA. Financial donations allow us to use your donation where it is most needed, whether it is to provide emergency medical treatment to an injured animal, buy supplies or take in homeless animals.

Some groups have held book and bake sales, car washes, dog shows and BBQs for our benefit; the possibilities are endless. Be creative and see what your group can do!

Supply Drive

Organize a Supply Drive to collect the things we need most. Our shelter is always in need of certain supplies (see our list of needed supplies above).

You can focus your collections drive on specific items we need (such as towels and blankets) or ask members of your community to donate any item on the list.

Get Crafty

  • Make blankets to keep cats & dogs cozy. Cut out a piece of double-sided fleece that is 24-36 inches square (exact size is not important).
  • Make toys to entertain cats. Decorate empty plastic eggs or ping pong balls with permanent markers. These simple rolling toys are popular entertainment for shelter cats!
  • Make chew toys for rabbits and guinea pigs. Stuff empty toilet paper tubes with Timothy Hay (available at pet stores). Our rabbits and guinea pigs will enjoy these tasty chewing treats!

Recycle Goods

Donated items can be brought to the customer service counter at the Adopt-A-Pet Facility during regular business hours.

No appointment is necessary.

Towels & Blankets

Bring us your old towels and blankets. We can put them to use for bedding, grooming and cleaning up around our shelter.

Paper

Collect shredded office paper, which is used for small animal cages. Please note we cannot use cross-cut shredded paper – only the kind with long, straight strips. We also cannot use shredded paper which may contain staples!

Cardboard Tubes

Save empty cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towels. They make good chew toys for rabbits and guinea pigs, and shelters for little critters like gerbils and hamsters.

Bags

Clean plastic shopping bags are used by our dog walkers for cleanup outdoors.
