PROTECT YOUR DOG FROM THE SUMMER HEAT
If your dog is left outside, make sure it has access to plenty of cool, fresh water and a shady area. Never leave your dog tied up in your yard.

We are so pleased to announce that we have selected Nicole Anhorn to be the new Shelter Manager.
Nicole has been working in the front office at the MHSPCA for the past 6 months. She brings with her a Diploma in Business Administration, and 8 years of experience working in veterinary clinics and managing kennel staff.
Please join us in congratulating her on her new position! Nicole can be reached at contact@medhatspca.ca or 403-526-7722.
Shelter Manager Retires
Long time Shelter Manager, Audrey Becker, has retired after over 30 years service with the Medicine Hat SPCA, 15 of those years as the Manager of the SPCA Adopt-a-Pet Facility. Audrey's contribution to the organization has been significant, and her knowledge & experience are irreplaceable. We wish her a very happy retirement with her husband Cal, and their many, many animals!
Katch n' Kennel Raises over $18,000!
A HUGE "thank you" to all of our participants in this years' Katch n' Kennel fundraiser! We had 17 'Jailbirds' and they raised over $18,000 for the Medicine Hat SPCA. This money will be going towards the care of the animals at the shelter, for things like veterinary bills and general shelter operating costs. We don't receive any government funding for general shelter operations, so we are so grateful to our community for their support!
Be Aware …..Spring Brings Dangers to Your Pets!
1. Meet-and-Greets
Spring is in the air and your pets are outside more, meeting their neighbors all over again! Cat fight abscesses begin to appear, as your cat and the neighbor’s cat, fight for their territory or go searching for some love! Dog walks and dog park encounters can escalate to guerilla warfare! Be sure to supervise your dog at all times.
2. Spring Food Festivals
Thank you Pet Valu!
We are so grateful to have Pet Valu Medicine Hat as our sponsor this year for our 3rd Annual Katch n' Kennel event! This is one of our biggest fundraisers, and we couldn't do it without them. We will be at the Sunshine Home & Garden show from March 3-5 along with our special guests, both 2 and 4 legged, so please stop by and visit us!
